Three steps forward...

Today was a very long day in a new way - Mom and Dad took the midnight to 4am and 4am to 8am shifts with Robert to help him rest better and as a result are very sleep deprived. I am okay, I got some sleep inbetween midnight and picking up the parents at 8am, thank goodness we are staying within a reasonable distance of the hospital.

The day went fairly well and by the end, Robert was sitting up 45 degrees (a big deal!), off the oxygen (also a big deal) and passing gas (a huge deal). However, just before we left tonight his heart rhythm which has been so steady and making beautiful lines on the screen starting looking rather fishy and he developed a pretty bad headache too. So we were disappointed and concerned to end the day - not quite what we wished for for the day. We were hoping this is just another little blip in his recovery and we called tonight to find that all is well again. The headache and temporary heart instability have both been credited to his elevation after a week of lying flat.

Prayer requests for tonight...
-SLEEP for my parents (and me and Robert) and good health despite our comprimised immune systems (not enough sleep, so-so nutrition, being at a hospital all the time)
- continued stability for Robert and that he would be able to sit up 90 degrees by tomorrow morning for new X-rays
- for full life to return to his internal organs and his legs/feet

Thanks for sticking with us!
Jen

PS Thank-you to the friends who visited today - Jaren, Leslie and Veronica - I know it means a lot to Robert to have his friends visit him.

Praise God for steps forward! Our prayers remain constant. Corinne has tears in her eyes (there's a surprise!)and we are so relieved to hear this last update. We are praying for rest for all of you. We don't know how you keep going through all of this but it is an answer to prayer that you are able to. Sleep well tonight, and may you be surrounded by prayer!
Good job Robert!! You have a strength in God that is going to change lives.
Love,
Chris and Corinne

P.S. Chris says I bet a fart has never felt so good.

Our family's thoughts and prayers are with your whole family. We've been praying for healing for Robert as well as rest and a peace for Jen, Tom, and Chris. We're also praying for rest for all of you. My mom says that we do have Robert's wallet, backpack, and everything else you were wondering about. I'll bring it with us when we come down to visit.
Love and prayers from Michael and the rest of my family.

Hey there folks, it's a small world. My girlfriend, Michelle, is a summer student at Canfor Taylor Pulp too, and she told me about Robert's accident. I work at the LDC in Prince George, and it wasn't until today that I found out that the Chris Lavigne who did such an amazing job at the Learning Difficulties Centre's O-G Training course was none other than Robert's mother.

Ever since I heard about the accident I have been following the blog to see how things were going, but it wasn't until I realized that there was more of a connection between myself and Robert that I felt compelled to post. Hoping for a full recovery and you have all our best wishes.

I just found out how to say something here. Robert Nil and I have been praying for you and so hope your recovery can be less painful. Your dad did a great job of preaching this morning...even with this difficult situation at hand. I am working at Northwood as a draftsman and get out in the mill from time to time, they are a complex critter. I hope to be a bit of a light for Jesus as it sounds like you were..it takes time but I am getting to know some of the people. I have been there for almost a year. Blessings and we care about what is happening to you. Mike R.
